Description

Manor House Farmhouse is a red brick farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with a later, early 19th-century addition to the rear. It has a steeply pitched roof, brick end stacks, and coped brick and stone gables. The building is arranged with a double-depth plan and a central staircase.

The north front, which serves as the entrance front, has a dressed stone plinth and a basement entrance with a timber lintel. There are quoins to the right end and an altered early 20th-century porch to the left of the centre entrance. A segmental-headed window with a 4-light leaded casement is on the left end, and a C20 3-light casement is to the right of the entrance. A bow window to the right end has an ashlar base and cornice and contains paired 16-pane sashes. The first floor features three segmental-headed windows with 3 and 4-light leaded casements with iron opening casements. Attic windows include one small window with a 3-light leaded casement, and two blind windows. Some of the windows retain crown glass and wrought-iron fasteners.

The right return has a projecting gable with a segmental-headed attic window with a leaded casement. The left return features two 18th-century lead fluted bell-form rainwater heads over a C20 lean-to.

The ashlar garden front has a moulded plinth, a plat band over the ground floor, and a cornice with a plain parapet. A round-headed entrance has a fanlight with radial glazing bars over a 6-panel door; the upper four panels are glazed and the lower two are flush. This entrance is sheltered by a C20 open gabled porch. The windows on this front have sills, and 10/10 sashes, except for a central first-floor window, which has an 8/8 sash.

The interior was not inspected, but it is noted that one room contains a dado rail, fielded-panelled cupboards, fluted pilasters, and a cornice.
