Description
Brewers Cottage Two Brewers is a former public house with two attached cottages, now two separate dwellings. The building largely dates to the early 18th century, with an extension added in the early 19th century, and alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of timber frame, with a brick extension, all rendered externally. The roofs are tiled and slate-covered.
Originally a three-cell lobby entry plan, the building was later extended to the right by two bays. The earlier section is two storeys and has an attic, and features a brick plinth. It has 20th-century flush frame casement windows, with a small light positioned on the first floor above a blocked original entrance. The right bay has an entrance with a vertically boarded door, alongside flush frame glazing bar sashes. A large red brick ridge stack, partly rebuilt, is located between the centre and left bays. The roof over this section is tiled and half-hipped at both ends.
The 19th-century addition features two-light casements, a lower, shallower-pitched slate roof that is hipped to the right, and a central cross axial ridge stack. An entrance is located in the right return. A catslide roof covers a lean-to extension to the rear of the 19th-century bays. A 20th-century lean-to addition extends from the rear of the earlier range.
