Description

The Hoops is a house, formerly a public house, dating from the mid to late 17th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. It is timber-framed and rendered, with a tiled roof. The building comprises four main sections, arranged around a lobby entry. It is two storeys high. On the ground floor, the central entrance has a slightly recessed door with a bracketed hood. Flanking this are three small-paned flush frame casements, with a single-light casement to the right, and a second door to the far left. The first floor has three two-light casements and a horizontal sliding sash window to the right. A rendered axial ridge stack is situated behind the entrance, and an internal left-end red brick ridge stack is also present. Exposed purlins are visible in the left gable end. An attached and projecting 19th-century outshut is on the right; it has its own entrance on its inner elevation, a hipped roof, and a stack. The outshut features three-light casements and a three-light dormer window. Numerous casements are scattered on the rear elevation.
