Description

The farmhouse at Fordstreet Farm is likely from the 15th or early 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and an extension added in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered, topped with steep old red tile roofs. Originally, the structure had an east crosswing with a hall range extending to the west, facing south. The hall section was rebuilt in the 17th century to create a two-storey building with attics, featuring a large central chimney located near the west end and backing onto the cross-passage. A two-storey gabled wing from the 17th century was added, extending south from the service end, along with an 18th-century square porch at the angle.

The south front displays three windows arranged beneath three gables, with a pilastered doorcase and entablature leading into the porch. The old crosswing has a two-light flush casement window above a three-light casement. The gable that lights the attic of the hall range includes a small two-light window, with a three-light casement window on each floor below. The 17th-century wing features a 19th-century sash window above a large canted and parapeted bay window with sashes. The gable end facing the road showcases an early 18th-century two-storey canted bay window with leaded casements and a small tiled gable above it.
