Description
Ivy Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been built in different periods, primarily featuring a hall and cross-wing plan. The hall has a late 17th-century appearance, while the cross-wing is likely older. The cross-wing is timber-framed and rendered, with its front wall covered in brick. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof that is hipped at the rear, and a large projecting side stack made of 17th-century brick, with the upper courses rebuilt in the 19th century. The building has two storeys and an attic.
At the rear, there is one hipped dormer and three casement windows with segmental arches that are probably contemporary with the brickwork of the front gable end. The main range is also timber-framed and rendered, at least on the rear wall, while the front and end walls are made of late 17th-century red brick in English bond. The gable roof is plain tiled, featuring an end parapet and an early 18th-century end stack made of narrow gault and red brick. The internal layout consists of two rooms flanking an entry and stair bay, with two storeys and an attic, and a band between the storeys. There are two hipped dormers, and all the windows are later additions. The fenestration includes segmental arches to two three-light cross-frame casements, with the centre window blocked. On the ground floor, there are two similar windows on either side of a doorway that features an early 19th-century panelled door.
