SWAFFHAM PRIOR LOWER END (west side) No 23, Ivy Farmhouse

II Farmhouse of different building periods but principally of hall and cross-wing plan. The hall has a late C17 appearance but the cross-wing is probably earlier. Cross-wing. timber-framed rendered but front wall cased in brick. Steeply pitched plain tile roof, hipped at rear, with large projecting side stack of C17 brick with upper courses rebuilt C19. Two storeys and attic.

One hipped dormer at rear and three casements in segmental arches probably contemporary with front gable end brickwork. Main range, also timber-framed, rendered, at least in the rear wall, with the front and end wall of late C17 red brick, English bond. Plain tiled gable roof with end parapet and early C18 end stack of narrow gault and red brick. Plan of two rooms flanking an entry and stairbay. Two storeys and attic with band between storeys. Two hipped dormers. The fenestration is all later. Segmental arches to two three-light cross-frame casements. The centre window has been blocked. Two similar windows at ground floor on either side of doorway with early C19 panelled door.
