Description
Ivy Cottage is a house located in Braughing village, dating from the 18th century or earlier, with a northern wing added in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame that is roughcast, with a red brick sill and part of the exterior finished in stucco. It has a steep old red tile roof, which includes a gabled dormer on the front facing east. The roof extends to the rear at a flatter pitch over an outshot. The northern extension is plastered and also has an old red tile roof with a gabled dormer on the south side. The house is one and a half storeys tall throughout.
The eastern front showcases a six-panelled door, which has been renewed, set within a moulded doorcase that features a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. To the right of the door, there is a two-light casement window with small panes, a moulded frame, and a cornice. To the left, a square bay window contains small-paned casements. The dormer features another two-light casement window. At the rear, a 19th-century outshot is constructed with a knapped flint wall accented with red brick dressings.
