Description

Larks Hill is an early 19th-century house located on the west side of Green End in Braughing village. The house is constructed of red brick with stucco dressings, and has a hipped slate roof concealed behind a parapet. It is two storeys and attics in height, with a symmetrical front facade three windows wide. The front features a plinth, a horizontal band dividing the floors, and a stone-capped parapet. There are three flat-topped dormers in the roof. Recessed sash windows with 6/6 panes are set within moulded surrounds. A pedimented entablature sits above the central window over the front door; the other windows have a straight cornice supported by brackets. A projecting porch is supported by fluted Doric columns, with a fluted frieze and paterae decoration. The front door is a four-panel design, half-glazed. Windows on the side wall are arched and have reeded surrounds with corner blocks and paterae. Inside, the doorcases are similar, leading to six-panel moulded doors. Fireplaces have fine cast iron basket grates within decorative surrounds.
