Description
Paper Mill House is a 17th-century house with a 19th-century painted brick front on the south side. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast and has steep hipped roofs covered in old red tiles. It is an L-shaped structure that stands two stories tall, facing south with a garden front on the east. At the end of the house is a lower two-story kitchen that has an external gable chimney, which is enclosed by a 19th-century red brick tiled lean-to extension.
The south front has a blue brick offset to a red brick plinth and includes four windows. These are flush box sash windows with 6/6 panes, with the lower windows set under segmental arches. There is a half-glazed six-panel fielded door in a moulded doorcase, accessed by two steps. The recessed kitchen block on the left has two flush sash windows with 8/8 panes and a battened boarded door. The garden front on the right has a weatherboarded lower floor and also features four flush box sash windows with 6/6 panes, along with French windows on the left.
