Description
66 High Street is a house dating from the late 17th century, which was renovated in the 18th century. The rear wall was constructed in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is roughcast with a stucco plinth and has an old red tiled roof that is continuous with No 68. The house is three storeys tall and two windows wide, facing east. The top floor includes a blind recess and a flush box sash window with small panes. The other floors have Yorkshire sliding casements in flush frames, also with small panes. There is a flush panelled door set back in a moulded doorcase, topped with a flat hood supported by brackets. At the northern end, there is a one and a half storey range that was formerly a dairy, which is also roughcast and has a steep hipped tiled roof. This range has windows on two levels at the rear. The 19th century red brick rear wall of the house is continuous with No 68 and features a long four-light cast iron casement window on the top floor, which appears to have been designed for a workshop.
