Description
70 and 74 High Street are two adjacent houses dating from the 17th century, which were refronted in the early 19th century. The houses have a timber frame that is roughcast, with a painted brick ground floor and plinth. They feature steep old red tiled roofs. No 74 has a long rear wing with a brick and flint ground floor and a dark weatherboarded upper floor. The buildings are two storeys high and have a front that is five windows long, with the windows irregularly spaced. The flush box sash windows have moulded surrounds and consist of 8/8 panes. There are two doors: one is a panelled and half-glazed door, while the other is a boarded door to No 70. Both doors are set in moulded doorcases with small flat hoods supported by shaped brackets. The sash windows and early 20th-century windows have small panes in the upper sash and two large panes in the lower sash.
