Description
The Star Public House is an inn that dates back to the 17th century or earlier. It features a timber frame set on a painted brick plinth, with plastered sections showing traces of panelled pargetting on the main range. The brick crosswing, which projects to the south at the rear, is likely older than the main range. The front is painted, and the building has steep old red tile roofs. A large central chimney rises from the front slope of the main range.
The structure is two storeys high and has two windows along the front. The crosswing includes a gable parapet with kneelers supported by brick corbels, and a square sundial set into the top of the gable, above a three-light casement window on each floor. There is a cellar beneath the crosswing. The main range features flush windows with moulded surrounds, a small casement window, and widely spaced Yorkshire sliding casements. The entrance has a six-panel door within a simple doorcase topped by a small hood on brackets. A freestanding sign on a post is also present. Inside, there is an ovolo moulded axial beam in the middle room.
