Description
Birchall Farm House is a house dating from the late 18th century, with extensions added in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features tiled roofs. The original structure consists of four bays, with a gabled block added to the front, creating a T-shaped layout. The house has two storeys and an attic. The original range includes three-light small pane recessed casements with slightly cambered heads and dentilled brick eaves. The right bay is set back slightly. The 19th-century block projects to the left of centre and has similar two-light casements, a plat band, and an entrance in the left return with a half-glazed door beneath a hipped tiled bracketed hood. There is a stack on the right return, and the roof is hipped at the left end. An internal stack is located at the rear of the left bay, with a cross axial stack on the rear slope between the two right bays. The right gable end features a half-glazed door, a first-floor sash window, a plat band, and an attic casement. At the rear, there is a catslide roof over a continuous lean-to outshut with a small pane metal casement, as well as two early two-light gabled dormers. Additional 19th-century structures include a one-storey gabled block at the centre and a slate-roofed weatherboarded outshut to the left. The site is partially moated.
