Description
Sarratt Hall is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations and extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick with a shallow hipped slate roof. Originally five bays, the house has a central entrance with a part-glazed door featuring a five-light fanlight, a key blocked archivolt, and a pedimented doorcase. On the ground floor, the two leftmost bays have tall 2-light casements set within gauged brick flat arches. The right two bays incorporate a full-height 19th-century canted bay with matching casements and a plat band. The first floor has flush-frame glazing bar sashes with flat arched heads in the three bays to the left. There are moulded boxed eaves. A two-bay 20th-century extension to the right mimics the earlier style, with blind ground-floor openings and sash windows above. Two brick stacks on the rear roof slope have triple flues. The left return has a projecting rectangular bay on the ground floor, with 2-light casements and a hipped roof. A lower two-storey one-bay addition is located to the rear left. A rear wing, possibly dating from an earlier period, extends at right angles to the right, with five bays of glazing bar sashes, cambered heads, dentilled brick eaves, and a gable end to the rear; casements are found on the rear elevation. The interior has not been inspected.
