Description
The Nook and Wayside Cottages are two houses located in Sarratt, dating from the early to mid 17th century, with extensions added in the early to mid 18th century. Wayside Cottage features a timber frame with brick nogging, while The Nook is constructed of brick. Both houses have tiled roofs and are two storeys tall.
Wayside Cottage has three bays, with two gabled timber porches on the ground floor and three and two light casements. The first floor features three sets of three light casements and one set of two light casements. The exposed framing includes posts, rails, and studs. The Nook, to the left, consists of two bays with three light casements, except for two lights on the first floor to the left. The ground floor has cambered heads above the windows, and a central entrance is topped with a gabled timber porch. The eaves are dentilled brick, and there is a ridge stack where the two dwellings meet, along with an extruded stack at the left end. The right gable end is finished in colourwashed brick, and there are lean-to additions at the rear, as well as a later wing to the rear right. The interior has not been inspected.
