Description

Sarratt House is a house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, which was refronted and largely rebuilt in the early 19th century. The exterior is stuccoed brick, with a slate roof at the front and tile to the rear. It has two storeys and three windows that are unevenly spaced. An arched doorway, featuring a blind fanlight and quoined jambs, is located to the right of centre, flanked by full-length round-headed glazing bar sash windows within reveals. The first floor has glazing bar sash windows. A mid-19th century slender wood post verandah screens the ground floor, with a scalloped valance to the leaded roof and similar ornamentation to the eaves. A stack is located at the left end. Casement windows are present in the left end wall. The building adjoins the White Cottage. A catslide roof covers the original continuous outshut to the rear. Inside, there is an early 19th century staircase with a turned newel, molded handrail, square balusters, and an early 19th century reeded and shell-ornamented chimneypiece. The roof features clasped purlins.
