Description
The White Cottage is a house built around 1840 to 1850, constructed from stuccoed brick with a slate roof. This two-storey, three-bay villa features a central door topped with a rectangular fanlight. On the ground floor, there are shallow canted bays with casement windows, all sheltered by a slender wooden post verandah that has a scalloped valance and a leaded roof. The first-floor windows are sash style, set in reveals with slightly cambered heads. The eaves and bargeboards also have a scalloped valance. There is an extruded stack at the right end of the building. The White Cottage is slightly taller than the adjacent Sarratt House, which has a more steeply pitched roof. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
