Description

Holly Tree Farmhouse and Holly Tree Cottage are a pair of houses dating back to the 17th century, with significant alterations and renovations in the mid to late 18th century. The farmhouse has a timber frame structure, but was refronted with brick and rendered. The cottage is a brick extension. Both have tiled roofs.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with two windows each. The original two-bay house has a front door on the left side, featuring six panels and a rounded top. The ground floor has timber casement windows with curved heads, and the first floor has three-light casements with leaded panes. An insurance marker dated 1714 is visible. The eaves are made of dentilled brick. An original axial ridge stack is located to the right of the centre, with a rebuilt, moulded cap. The right gable end is cement rendered, exposing the purlins, and includes a small two-light casement and a stack in a catslide roof to a rear lean-to outshut.

The attached cottage has a central entrance and 20th-century casement windows with curved heads on the ground floor. It also has dentilled eaves and a lower ridge. A left-end external stack is present on a one-story 20th-century addition. A continuous lean-to outshut runs along the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
