Description
Rose Cottage is a house located 90 metres northwest of a public house in Allen's Green, dating from the 16th century or earlier. It is a tall one and a half storey building with a timber frame, rough plastered above a tarred plinth. The house features a steep half-hipped thatched roof, with a large central chimney positioned one-third from the north end and a smaller central stack one-third from the south end. There are small casement windows located under the eaves in the centre, and the lower ground floor window-head indicates that an additional floor has been inserted in what was once a hall open to the roof. This picturesque late medieval house has three units, with the chimney situated at the upper end of the hall.
