Description
Rose Cottage, Widows Nest is a house dating from the 16th century, with an early 20th-century addition to the east and modernisation completed in 1974. It is a rebuilding of the upper end of a medieval house that adjoins to the west. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. It has two storeys and features mid-20th-century standard casement windows and a mid-20th-century door. The 20th-century addition is constructed of colourwashed brick and also has a pantiled roof. The interior has been modernised, with a two-bay ground floor ceiling that includes chamfered joists; however, one bay has been largely removed to accommodate a mid-20th-century stair. Most of the remaining structure is concealed. The property is included for its group value.
