Description

Mill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was built in two phases, with the right side dating back to the 15th century and a stack and parlour cell added in the late 16th century, featuring slightly higher eaves. The building was restored and extended to the rear around 1976. It is timber framed and roughcast-rendered, topped with a roof of mid-20th century clay pantiles. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics, forming a long three-cell range.

The exterior features 18th century casement windows without glazing bars. To the left, there is a 19th century gabled porch with a four-panel door, and inside the porch is an older door with six raised and fielded panels. To the right, a gabled porch from 1976 has replaced the door with a window. An internal stack has a lower half of the 19th century shaft that is cement-rendered. There is also a lean-to addition on the left gable end.

The interior has been modernised, with most of the structure concealed. In the earlier section, near the stack, there is a cambered tie beam that shows evidence of long arched braces, which have now been removed; this beam supported a crown-post until the mid-20th century. Part of another tie beam is also visible. The roof over this range is said to have been almost entirely renewed. The parlour chamber features a chamfered-joist ceiling, and above it is a side-purlin roof. The staircase is a newel type.
