Description

Rose Cottage is a house, likely dating from the 18th century, with a substantial rebuilding of the front in the mid-19th century. A smaller 19th-century outbuilding stands to the rear. The rear of the house is constructed of cob, while the front is of stone rubble. The roof is slate, featuring 19th-century crested ridge tiles and brick gable end tiles. The house follows a symmetrical double-depth plan, with a symmetrical facade of three windows across two storeys. It has hornless sash windows with 6 over 6 panes, and similar windows above, all retaining original 19th-century glazing and brick voussoirs. The central doorway is round-arched and has a slated lean-to canopy above it. A blind fanlight sits above a 6-panelled door. A round-headed barred sash window from the 18th century is visible at the rear of the house where the staircase is located.
