Description

The farmhouse at Warrens Farm is a 17th-century building that was extended and had its windows changed in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboarding on the first floor and a steeply pitched roof now covered with pantiles. The ground floor walls have been replaced with rendered brickwork. The house is two storeys high with attics and has three windows. It is designed as a three-unit baffle-entry house facing north. A service end door, which was cut in the 19th century for use as a dairy, is located on the external side. There is a large axial central chimney situated one third from the left end, which serves the parlour and hall. At the southeast corner, there is a deep 18th-century lean-to kitchen that is one and a half storeys high, featuring a fireplace and a former oven. Inside, there is a winding stair next to the chimney stack and a straight servants' stair in the lean-to leading to a room above the dairy. The front of the house has an asymmetrical arrangement of three windows, with flush boxed sashes that have moulded architraves on the first floor and 10/10 panes. The front door is battened with ogee tops and has a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. There is also a half-glazed door leading to the dairy.
