Description
This barn, dating from the 17th century, is located about 35 meters northeast of Birchall Farm House. It features a timber frame with a brick base and is weatherboarded, topped with a tiled roof. The structure consists of seven bays. In the yard, there are gabled midstreys in bays 2 and 6, which are connected by a lean-to stable range that has three doors and is covered with pantiles. The outer bays have later lean-to outshuts, with a slate roof on the right and corrugated sheeting on the left. There are inserted windows in the left gable end. Attached to the right end is a lower two-bay addition that includes a door to the yard and an open gable end. Inside, the barn features braces from jowled posts to tie beams, queen struts to collars clasping purlins, and some angled struts that also clasp the purlins.
