Description
This is a barn located one yard southwest of Tyland Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid-17th century. The barn features a timber frame, is weatherboarded, and sits on a red brick plinth with a corrugated iron roof. It consists of seven bays, with two midstreys, and is double aisled except for the two left bays at the front and the left end bay at the rear. The barn forms the left side of the farmyard and has two storeys in the two left end bays. The roof is half-hipped at both ends. The midstreys are located in the second and fifth bays from the left, with canopies above; the left canopy is recessed as it is supported from an arcade rather than the aisle. Inside, the barn has a clasped purlin roof with rafters trenched over the purlins and queen struts to the collars. The structure includes jowled posts and straight bracing. Two left end bays were rebuilt in the 20th century.
