Description

Abbey Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 15th century and the 18th century. The left section of the building is possibly from the 15th century, featuring a stone ground floor and a timber-framed first floor, topped with a plain tile roof. It has two storeys on a stepped plinth, with a jettied first floor. The roof is hipped with a gablet at the left end and gabled at the right. There is a small projecting brick stack at the left end. The left section has three timber-framed bays, which may have originally extended to the right, with one tension brace in each of the two left bays. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of four 20th-century first-floor casements.

The right section is from the 18th century or early 19th century, rendered and also featuring a plain tile roof. This section has two storeys and attics on a plinth, with an eaves plat band. Its roof is lower than that of the left section and half-hipped at the right end, with two small hipped dormers. The fenestration is irregular, with three three-light casements spaced between the centre and left end, and two two-light casements between the centre and right end. There is a 19th-century panelled door that is off-centre to the left, featuring lattice work on the upper panels and recessed under a shallow flat bracketed hood with a dentilled cornice. The rear of the building has a lean-to.
