Description
The Old Mill House is a 17th-century house located on Boarley Lane in Boxley. It features a timber frame with exposed framing and brick nogging on the ground floor, while the first floor is rendered. The roof is made of plain tiles. The building is situated on a slope and has two storeys, an attic, and a basement at the front, while the rear has three storeys and an attic. The framing includes widely-spaced studding of slight scantling with cross rails in brick nogging, creating large square panels. There is a boxed eaves cornice, and the rear has an off-centre stack to the left and a projecting stack on the right gable. It has two hipped dormers and a small sash window in the left gable. The front has a regular two-window arrangement with wood mullioned and transcoled casements on the first floor and glazing bar sashes on the ground floor. The plain boarded door is slightly off-centre to the right and features a rectangular leaded light above it, along with a flat hood. The house is listed for its group value.
