Description
This is a 16th-century barn located immediately southeast of the Manor House. It features a timber frame that is rendered above weatherboarding and has a hipped thatched roof. The barn consists of four bays and has double doors positioned to the right of the center. There is a 19th-century gabled midstrey flanking the doors, with pantiled outshuts on either side.
Inside, the barn showcases full height close studding, cranked and reverse cranked arched braces in the walling, and edge halved scarf joints in the wall plates. Arched braces connect jowled posts to straight tie beams, and the roof is supported by queen posts with arched braces leading to cambered collars.
Extending from the end bays towards the house are two low 19th-century sheds made of red brick and clay lump, which are part weatherboarded and part open, with pantiled roofs. Attached to the left end of the barn is a low 19th-century clay lump range that includes a returning arm in red brick, open to the yard, and has a hipped angle to its pantiled roof.
