Description

This is a barn dating from around 1700. It is timber-framed and rests on a brick base, with weatherboarding cladding the timber frame. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in corrugated sheet material. The barn originally comprised five bays, with a central cart entrance featuring double doors. A two-bay gabled midstrey (central section) is positioned opposite the cart entrance, and includes lower cart exit doors.

Inside, the barn exhibits studding with a mid-rail, along with through-tension braces in the end walls and midstrey. Other notable interior features include arched braces extending from jowled posts to straight tie beams, staggered tenoned purlins, collars to the principals, and a collar clasping the purlins in the midstrey.

Attached to the outer bays and extending into the yard are two 19th-century low sheds, which are weatherboarded and have pantiled roofs.
