Description

The Tudor Cottage is a house, later divided into two dwellings, dating from the mid to late 16th century. It has undergone alterations and the roof was replaced in the 20th century. The house is timber-framed and plastered, with a steeply pitched roof covered in machine-made pantiles. Originally a three-room lobby-entry plan, it is one storey high with an attic.

The entrance is towards the right side, featuring a four-panelled door within a 20th-century open porch. There are 20th-century two-light casement windows, and a two-light gabled dormer. A ridge stack is located to the right of the centre, with a rebuilt capping. A 20th-century boarding covers the attic window on the left side, and there is a garage addition.

At the rear, the original windows are diamond mullioned, with three, four, or five lights on the first floor. 20th-century three-light windows are on the ground floor, and there is a lean-to outshut on the left side.

The interior retains exposed studding of large timber sections, stop-chamfered binding beams, joists, and a fireplace bressumer. There are reverse curved arched braces in the walling at both ends, and an arched brace to a cambered tie beam, through which a doorway has always been present.
