Description
Ermine Cottage (No 80) and No 82 are two houses that were originally one house built in the late 17th century and refronted in the late 18th century. The structure has a timber frame resting on a low stuccoed sill and is finished with roughcast and a steep old red tile roof. It is a two-storey building with a central chimney plan, facing west. The facade features four windows, with flush sash windows consisting of 4/8 panes on the first floor and 8/8 panes on the ground floor. There are two similar entrance doors, each with six-panel flush beaded doors, narrow reeded pilasters, traceried rectangular fanlights, and a moulded hood. A large square central chimney is located a third of the way from the north end, and there is an internal gable chimney at the south end. High-set purlins at the north gable indicate that the original design included attics, which are part of the clasped-purlin roof.
