Description
No. 10 and 11 Church End is a house that has been divided into two homes, located in Braughing village. It dates from the 17th century or earlier and was altered in the 18th century. The building features a timber frame that is plastered on a stucco plinth, with the upper gable of the rear wing covered in weatherboarding. It has steep old red tile roofs and is designed in a T-plan. The house is two stories tall and faces the street, with a large external lateral chimney on the southern part, a rear corner chimney at the northern end, and a central chimney in the rear wing.
The eastern front is symmetrical, with four windows and a central door. The right side has casement windows, while the left side features sash windows. The central entrance includes a six-panel fielded door set in a moulded frame, complete with an entablature, a swelled frieze, and a swept flashing to the cornice. The rear of the building has a six-panel, part-glazed door and sash windows with margin lights in the eastern half of the rear wing. The western half (No. 10) has a plank door with a drip board and two-light cast iron casement windows in the gable wall.
