Description
This is an 18th-century house located on the west side of High Street in Buntingford. It is a timber-frame building, now with a stuccoed sill and a roughcast front, with white weatherboarded sections at the rear and north end. The roof is steeply pitched, covered in old red tiles, and is half-hipped at the north end, projecting over an internal red brick gable chimney.
The house has two storeys and an L-shaped plan, facing east. The symmetrical front elevation is two windows wide, with a central doorway. It features flush box sash windows with moulded surrounds and 4/4 sashes. A door, set three steps above ground level, is a four-panel design with a glazed top cross-panel and a moulded surround on plinth blocks. The front is finished with a full entablature and a triangular pediment. A rear wing, extending to the southwest, has a flush box sash window with 6/6 sashes. The north and rear elevations are clad in roll-edged weatherboarding.
