Description

This is an early 19th-century house on High Street, Buntingford. It is stuccoed to resemble ashlar, with a painted plinth and a low-pitched slate roof featuring projecting eaves. The house has a double-pile plan, with mid-wall chimneys of gault brick. It faces west, with two windows on each floor, and a central blind recess above a segmental arched doorway. The windows are recessed sash windows with 6/6 panes. There was an original shop window to the right of the door, featuring a reeded surround, paterae, small panes, a frieze, and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. The front door is a six-panel design, with two glazed panels, two raised and fielded panels, and two flush beaded panels. A blank tympanum is positioned within the recess above the door. The building is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
