Description

Old Swan House is a house, formerly The Swan Inn, dating from the early 18th century or earlier, with renovations from the early 19th century. The building is timber-framed with a low stuccoed sill and roughcast render. The northeast angle is rusticated, and the north end is plastered and extended to the rear, forming a matching corner created when Norfolk Road was constructed. It has a steep red tiled roof with a deep moulded eaves cornice.

The front façade is symmetrical, with two windows and a central door. There are small, two-light Yorkshire sliding casements with small panes in the upper windows. The ground floor has triple flush box sash windows with small panes and hoods, and a four-panel, half-glazed door set two steps up, with a moulded surround and a full entablature. A central chimney is present, and the building has a lobby-entry plan with a rear wing to the northwest.
