Description
No. 85 and No. 87 are two houses that were originally a single house, dating from the 17th century or earlier. The building features a later inserted floor and an internal chimney, with a brick facade added in the 18th or 19th century. The structure has a timber frame that is cased in red brick, with the frame exposed and plastered panels at the south end, while the north end has brick infill. It has a steep old red tile roof and large external gable chimneys at each end. The house is 1½ storeys tall and faces west, featuring two gabled dormers at the eaves. The ground floor has three small-pane, 2-light Yorkshire sliding casement windows with segmental arches and two battened doors between them. There is a dentilled brick eaves course and flint panels at the north end. The roof is a clasped-purlin type with diminished principals.
