Description

Chesham Lodge to Rossway is a lodge built around 1802 for Robert Sutton of Highgate, with the main house originally named Rothway, which was rebuilt in 1863. The lodge is constructed from uncoursed knapped flint and features a steep hipped scalloped red tile roof that extends over a verandah on the north, east, and south sides, supported by rustic posts with slender straight braces. This single-storey rectangular gatelodge has a deep verandah facing east towards the drive. The eastern front is symmetrical and includes two 2-light pointed casement windows with lattice leaded glass, along with a central pointed door. There is one similar window at each end and a small gable in the center of each side of the verandah. At the rear, there is a brick extension.
