Description

The farmhouse at Rossway Home Farm is a building dating from the 16th century, with an east crosswing and a western part that was rebuilt in the 17th century. This western section features a large internal chimney and a lobby entrance. The western wing has a brick front added in the 18th century, while the rest of the building is also brick fronted. A porch was added, and the roof was altered at the rear to extend over a rear outshut after the 1841 Tithe Map. There is a small east extension added around 1984. The structure is timber framed, with brick fronting, roughcast, and painted brick. The front roof slope is steep and covered in old red tiles, while the rear slope is flatter and slated.

This two-storey house faces south into a northern yard and features two first-floor three-light casement windows and four ground-floor two-light casement windows, all with segmental arches. The middle of the front has a brick gabled porch leading to a boarded door, with a small central window above the porch and a straight joint for the full height of the brickwork to the left of the porch. An elaborate late 17th-century red brick chimney with staggered square shafts and a projecting pointed nib is located on the east side, topped with an oversailing moulded cap. Inside, there is exposed framing, an axial beam in the floor of the western part, jowled posts, wide-spaced wall framing, a clasped-purlin roof, and mortices for wind-braces that have now been removed from the eastern wing.
