Description
Bradbury's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that underwent remodelling in the 17th century, originally dating back to an earlier, likely 16th-century structure, with further alterations and additions made in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame, much of which has been replaced with brick laid in English bond, and has a plain tile roof. It includes a brick integral end stack with lozenge-shaped, cruciform, and star-shaped shafts, as well as a brick external end stack. The farmhouse is oriented north-east to south-west, with a projecting porch and 19th-century additions to the north-east, along with 17th and 19th-century additions to the north-west.
The structure is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical front with three bays of casement windows. The central gabled porch features a three-centred entrance arch and windows with brick dripstones, while there are French casements to the left. To the right, there is a single-storey extension. Flanking the porch are single-light windows on both the ground and first floors, which have chamfered openings. Inside the porch, the timber framing is exposed, and there is a 17th-century six-panel door. The left-hand gable has a queen strut roof truss, and the eaves to the left of the stack show exposed framing with three square panels. The 17th-century rear wing includes a two-light chamfered mullioned window with a rebated frame. The interior features chamfered and stopped spine beams and joists, several 17th-century doors, and exposed wall framing.
