Description
Noak Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with modifications made in the 19th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill and later brick additions, topped with a plain tile roof. There is a brick stack to the left of the central range, which has two engaged diagonal shafts, and a larger stack with four engaged shafts in the right cross-wing. The building has a U-shaped plan, with a 19th-century lean-to partially filling the U.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with unequal wings. The left wing has one 19th-century casement window on each floor, while the right wing, which is larger, has a three-light casement window on the ground floor but no window on the first floor. All elevations feature gables, including those facing into the U, with plain barge boards and finials at the apex. The right return front has a 17th-century gabled window that projects slightly and is supported by a single bracket. The rear wall has been completely reconstructed in 19th-century brick and includes a porch that incorporates some 17th-century splat balusters. The framing consists of square panelling, mostly replaced on the ground floor, and the roof trusses of the two cross-wings have two collars and multiple queen posts.
