Description
Old Mill is a former mill building that later became part of a 19th-century barn complex. It dates back to the 17th century but has undergone alterations in the 19th century. The structure is constructed from coursed rubble and features a timber frame with brick and wattle-and-daub infill. It stands two storeys tall, built gable end into the hillside, and has no windows. There is a door located on the ground floor at the east end, made of 17th-century vertical planks, which includes rectangular ventilation slits and strap hinges with bifurcated terminals.
The framing consists of one square panel high, with a gable truss that has two collars supported by multiple queen struts and trenched purlins. There are also two intermediate trusses that feature raised crucks with collars. The barn to which this building is attached is not included in this listing.
