Description
The ruins of the Chapel of St Mary Magdalene at Marlin Chapel Farm are a 13th-century structure located beside an ancient roadway, approximately 60 meters west of a moated manorial enclosure now part of Marlin Chapel Farm. The chapel is built from flint with clunch dressings and is large and rectangular, oriented east-northeast by east. The corners of the chapel rise to about 5 meters, while the remaining walls are at ground level. It features a chamfered stone plinth that runs around diagonal corner buttresses and has prominent open putlog holes. The site is currently fenced and overgrown. Historical records indicate that a late 13th-century charter from Sir Hugh de Broc enhanced the endowment of this chapel.
