Description
South Lodge at Lethangie House is a Tudor-style lodge built around 1810-1820. It is a single-storey building with a gabled roof, constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings featuring narrow margins and scabbled tails. The roof is overhanging and covered with slate, adorned with decoratively pierced bargeboards and timber apex finials. The lodge has diagonally set Jacobethan ridge stacks and moulded square hoodmoulds with ledged end stops.
The entrance is located on the south gable, featuring a plain doorframe and a four-panelled door. There is a single window with a hoodmould and a blond inscription panel above it. Another window with a hoodmould is found on the east elevation. The north gable is blind, with small gabled and lean-to outshots, while there is a brick addition on the west side.
The property is enclosed by a wall with four gatepiers. The two outer piers are simple square ashlar with low pyramid caps, while the central pair features circular cluster shafts and shallow conical caps. Original cast-iron railings connect the piers in a concave curve, with coping and railings flanking the entrance.
