Description

Lethangie House features a large two-storey building constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings and a slated piend roof. The building has a rectangular plan and includes a lean-to on the east side. Although it is currently used for storage as a farm building, it was originally a domestic structure. The building likely dates back to 1750, as indicated by a lintel found at the door on the south elevation, but it may have origins in the late 17th century.

On the west elevation, there are four irregular bays. A large vehicular opening spans both floors on the right side. To the left, three bays retain many original openings, including a central door flanked by small square windows at ground level. The first floor features two widely spaced original windows beside later wide loft openings that are off-centre. The original openings have broad raised margins.

The south elevation showcases a large rectangular opening that spans the full width of the main building, also present on both floors. To the left, the half gable of the lean-to includes a door with early 19th-century droved dressings and the relocated dated lintel from 1750.

On the east elevation, the roof extends down over a single-storey lean-to that is half the length of the main block, with altered openings. The left-hand portion of the main block contains substantial ashlar blocks.

The north end features a small blocked opening off-centre to the left at ground level and a large opening, possibly the original entrance, which is partially blocked at the lower section and off-centre to the right on the first floor.
