Description

West Lodge at Lethangie House is a single-storey building constructed around 1900-1910 in an asymmetrical late Arts and Crafts style. It is made of stugged and snecked sandstone rubble, featuring cream ashlar dressings and quoins, with the dressings chamfered at the edges. The building has mullioned windows with sash and case glazing, consisting of a single pane below and a 6-pane upper sash made of crown glass. The roof is slated, with broad bracketed overhanging eaves and plain bargeboards. The east and north gables are half-timbered and jettied, with end stacks and red clay ridge tiles.

On the north (entrance) elevation, there is a broad projecting three-light canted gabled bay to the left, with single lights in the splays. The entrance features a segmental arched doorpiece with bolection-type moulding and a half-timbered gablet above, leading to a vertically boarded door.

Additionally, there are four gatepiers dating from the early 19th century. These are squat and square in plan, with deep chamfered edges that are decoratively stopped above a set-off plinth, cornice, and frieze. Each gatepier is topped with a three-tier stepped low pyramidal masonry cap. Original iron railings are set on a convex curved masonry plinth between the piers.
