Description

Binders is a cottage located on Colchester Road in St. Osyth, dating from the early 16th century, with later alterations to the first floor. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring red plain tiled roofs with two levels; the right side has a gambrel roof while the left side is hipped. There is a later rear wing added to the structure. The cottage has two storeys on the left and one storey with an attic on the right, which includes a flat head dormer. A jetty is present on the left side. The windows vary, with a two-window range where the ground floor features small paned bays. The central entrance has a four-panelled door with a moulded surround and a flat canopy supported by brackets. Inside, part of the heavy timber frame is visible, showcasing a halved and bridled top plate scarf, along with a later addition that has a halved and bladed scarf.
