Description
Waterloo House is a house with a return shop front to Clacton Road, located on St. Osyth Colchester Road. It dates from the 16th or 17th century or possibly earlier, with later alterations and additions. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring red plain tiled roofs. The gable is off-center to the left, and there is a gable on the shop addition to the right, which has painted brick above the ground floor and a chimney at the apex.
The house has four first-floor windows; the one above the door is oval, while the others are small-paned sashes, with a tripartite arrangement to the right. On the ground floor to the left, there is a single small-paned vertically sliding sash window. The entrance features a six-panelled door with two upper lights, a moulded surround, a frieze, and a flat canopy. The building was vacant at the time of the resurvey.
