Description

3 Eastgate Street is a house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is timber-framed with a rendered front and black weatherboarded sides. The gabled roof is covered with clay peg tiles. The building has two storeys, attics, and cellars, along with a two-storey weatherboarded rear extension that has a hipped clay plain tile roof at the northeast end.

The front features 19th-century square double-hung sash windows with small panes on each floor, and there is an iron grille protecting the cellar. A 20th-century flat-roofed dormer on the front roof slope has an asymmetrical small-paned casement window, and the rear extension has a similar dormer.

Inside, there is one bay of timber-framing made from softwood and reused hardwood, and the upper part of the winder stair from the first floor to the attic is still intact.
