Description

Hammonds Shoes is an island house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 18th century, though it may have earlier origins. The building features rough rendering and has a gabled right return. The roof is covered with red plain tiles, with 20th-century tiles on the right side. There are off-centre left and rear chimney stacks made of red brick. The house is two storeys high, with attics and cellars. It has a moulded wood eaves cornice, a central brick band, and a plinth.

On the first floor, there are four vertically sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has a blocked left window, a second window that matches those on the first floor, and two 20th-century doors with a shop window between them. The right return features a sash window in the gable, and on the ground and first floors, there are 19th-century three-light casement windows, with a 20th-century shop window on the ground floor.
