Description
Goodmans Restaurant and Peerage Carpets is a building that includes shops and dwellings, dating from the 17th century and 18th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure with tall red plain tiled roofs. The roof is hipped to the left and half hipped to the right, extending over No. 45 as an end gable. To the left, there is a smaller, lower range attached to No. 37, along with rear ranges.
The building has red brick chimney stacks located on the left wing ridge, central, rear, and right gable end. It is two storeys high in the left range and has two storeys with attics in the main range. There are two gabled dormers in the hipped roof and a moulded wood eaves cornice. The first floor features small paned vertically sliding sash windows arranged in a 0:3:1 pattern.
On the ground floor, the left set back range has a 20th-century plank and muntin door with red brick walls. The hipped range has small paned vertically sliding sashes, with two flat head bays that include 20th-century double doors between them, all having small panes. The right range includes a small 19th-century flat headed bay with a mullion and transom, a right-hand six-panelled door with a fluted surround and moulded frieze, and a flat head.
