Description
This is a house and shop, likely dating to the 17th century or earlier, with subsequent additions and alterations. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with a red plain tiled roof and a central catslide dormer. A red brick chimney stack is positioned off-centre. The gables extend to the left and right, with the right gable projecting further to the right. Decorative bargeboards and scroll brackets feature on the gables, topped by a moulded wood parapet.
The building is two storeys and has attics. The facade has a 1:1:1 window arrangement, including a central two-storey bay. This bay features vertically sliding sash windows, some with small panes from the 18th century, all set in moulded surrounds. A part-glazed door with glazing bars, a moulded surround, a frieze, and a flat canopy supported by moulded scroll brackets are present.
The left return of the building reveals several ranges. The range to the right has a 3-window range of small-paned vertically sliding sashes. The ground floor accommodates double-bay shop windows with cross transoms and a recessed glazed door. To the left, the roof line drops, with two vertically boarded doors and two small-paned casements on the first floor. A 3-window range on the ground floor includes double shop doors with glazing, and a central decorative band. A small extension projects to the left.
